It’s Only a Game

We were watching the local news and the sports reporter was all excited because Payton Manning was due in town to talk to the Cardinals about playing here.

“That’s just so weird,” Mom commented.

“What’s weird?” I asked.

“The way that Manning guy is going all over the country talking to people.”

“The Colts cut him loose, Mom,” Bill informed her.  “He’s looking for a job.”

“No he isn’t,” she said.  “He’s looking for a football team to play with.”

“It’s the same thing,” Bill replied.

“No it’s not.  Football’s just a game.  It isn’t a job.”
