How to be Artless in Arizona

Bill was online trying to figure out how to increase my blog viewership.  During his hunt, he came across a blog entitled “The Art of Procrastination.”

“That’s what we need to do” I said, peeking over his shoulder at the monitor.

“What? ” he asked.

“Learn the art of procrastinating,” I replied.

“We don’t have to procrastinate,” he responded.  “There’s no reason anymore because we’re retired. We don’t have to pretend we have  something important to do and think of reasons to put it off. “

“Well, maybe we need to learn the art of appearing to have something important to do so people won’t think we’re just the lazy slugs we really are.”

“Maybe,” he countered.  “Or maybe we just need to learn the art of acting like we’re procrastinating so it seems like we have important stuff to do but we’re putting off doing it because the stuff we’re doing at the moment is more important than the stuff we’re putting off doing.”

I stared at him for a few seconds while he smiled at his own insight.  “Honey, you’ve got way too much time on your hands,” I finally said.

“I know,” he said.  “It’s probably because I keep procrastinating!”
